DESCRIPTION: This unique pendant has been crafted in 9ct yellow gold (old gold with a warm hue) the chain is crafted in solid 9ct yellow gold. The pendant started its journey in life as a brooch and has been converted into a pendant. It was made in England and has Birmingham hallmarks, assay dated 1896. Crafted in a rectangular shape with gold sphere/studs on the out edge, there is hand etched scroll work to the corners. The center is an oval cartouche with the wording "The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent from one another" with "MIZPAH " written through the center. The pendant had a bail attached to the top corner with a nice sized ring that will accommodate many styles if chain. A very unique and very stunning pendant.

Mizpah jewellery is still worn as a token of love or friendship and became popular during the Victorian era with an emotive story behind it.

In the Book of Genesis, Jacob and Laban are given the wisdom to reconcile their differences, and live peacefully. As a symbol of their trust, they built a tower, a mizpah. Before parting, Laban salutes Jacob: 'The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent, one from another'.
