DESCRIPTION: This is an absolutely fabulous Albert chain that has been crafted in solid sterling silver. Made in England with Birmingham hallmarks the T-bar is assay dated 1898. The chain is a solid link in construction and is fashioned in a graduated curb link with the widest part measuring 9.65mm graduating down to 4.45mm at clasp. Each link of the chain is hallmarked with the lion passant, and the chain is incredibly long at 70cms end to end, this was quite possibly two chains at some point and joined. It fastens with one secure dog clip and has a movable large ring with a solid T-bar attached and a beautiful shield medal. The medal is particularly lovely boasting a rose gold gilded central cartouche to the front and back which is quite unusual and it is assay dated 1927.

Albert chains are a fabulous statement piece that never date. This is a particularly nice one with the rose gold gilded shield to both sides of the medal and the extra-long 70cm chain makes this a fabulous find indeed.⚜️⚜️

In excellent Antique vintage condition with patina and age-related wear, the dog clip looks to have been soldered with what looks to be flux at some point which was common practice in those days. It works well and looks original to the piece, so we have left it.⚜️⚜️
