An early Australian ring crafted by the well known South Australian Wendt's Jewellers - a well known South Australian business who operated for over 100 years before their closure at the end of the twentieth century. Joachim Matthias Wendt was born in Denmark. Joachim had heard of the goldrush in Victoria in the 1850's and decided to head to Australia, having completed his apprenticeship as a watchmaker and jeweller. Wendt moved into his first long-term shop in Rundle Street in the 1850's, where the business was occupied for over one hundred years, after having originally opened up in Pirie Street, Adelaide. Five generations of Wendt's ran the business until its closure.

DESCRIPTION: This gorgeous ring is beautifully crafted in solid 18ct yellow gold and platinum. An Art Deco ring that we can date by date inscribed inside the ring "01523". The ring has a beautiful strong rounded yellow gold band and under-rail, the shoulders are crafted in Platinum and are exquisitely detailed. There is a central Platinum six claw crown setting that houses a delicious round old cut Diamond that has tremendous fire and beauty. The ring has beautiful crisp hallmarks for those who are like me and love hallmarks.
