DESCRIPTION: This BEAUTIFUL locket has been crafted in 9ct gold front and back. The locket is yellow gold with a warm rose hue. We have hung it on a new 9ct rose gold chain as rose gold suited it better due to the warmth in the gold. 9ct gold front and back means that what you see on the outside is solid gold, and inside the structure is gilded base metal. This is to give the piece extra strength when opening and closing as gold is soft and wears. This was very common in the height of the Edwardian period when lockets were at the height of fashion.

A truly beautiful original Edwardian locket circa 1900 to 1910. The locket a wonderful size and is oval in shape. The locket has exquisite etching to the front with a blank cartouche in the lower portion and the back is also etched with a beautiful foliate style pattern. The interior of the locket has one original frame in place. The locket has some patina on the inside of the locket and we have left original as this is generally created from the warmth of chest/heart and is part of the beautiful lockets story. The locket snaps closed nicely. The locket is a lovely soft yellow gold with a warm rosy hue to parts so we added it to a new 9ct rose gold cable link chain.

This is a gorgeous piece that would make a lovely addition to any antique jewellery collection.🌹🌹
