DESCRIPTION: This INCREDIBLE book chain & Locket has been crafted in solid sterling silver. This is an original English made piece circa 1880's. The book chain is absolutely superb with wonderful wide links that alternate between embossed panels and polished silver panels which are linked together with an oval link. The verso of the chain is polished silver and can be worn either way for a change. The chain does up with a bolt style clasp that has a beautiful Locket on it. The locket is truly something with beautiful vertical etched sections. The locket is hallmarked inside and is just readable showing the Lion passant and an assay letter G for 1881. The locket snaps closed beautifully and has 2 frames inside without the glass. The locket does have patina internally which can be polished out, we like to leave that as it has generally developed over time from the warmth of the wearer's chest.
