DESCRIPTION: This gorgeous brooch has been beautifully crafted in solid 9ct yellow gold ( pink hue). An Australian brooch made by G.E Rodd. G.E Rodd was one of Melbourne's leading manufacturing Jeweller starting out in 1919. This glorious brooch dates to late the 1940's to early 1950's and is a fine example of his work during that era. A bar style brooch with beautiful engraving to either end, there is a swallow in the center swooping downwards and a gorgeous emerald cut vivid Blue Paste ( Vintage cut glass) stone below, cased and claw set in 9ct gold. The brooch has a 9ct gold safety chain and pin attached for added security.  The back pin of the brooch is made of base metal, this was very common as base metal is stronger than gold and tends to not bend.

This is an incredibly beautiful brooch and would be perfect for either a brooch collector or a collector of early Australian jewellery.  A very pretty piece which will look gorgeous on a winder coat or cardigan. The Swallow was often given to love ones and was often given when one set out on a journey to keep them safe so they return home safely. Swallows are also associated with faithfulness and were often given to young couples on their wedding day.💙💙
