The common blue colour is only a small sample of the colour range this wonderful gemstone is found in. Colourless, pink, red, orange, violet to purple, red-brown and green are all found naturally. Topaz is allochromatic which means it’s colour comes from trace impurities. For example, red Topaz is caused by iron and chromium. Topaz is also pleochroic which means it can show different colours depending on the viewing angle.
